I tested it, seems fine.

Good old Linux just lets you cat to /dev/fb0 to crap on the framebuffer,
you have to love the Unix Way.  There's probably a better way but ash
can also create the test file:

echo -n -e \\012\\0240 >>/tmp/img

gets you the first 0xa00a and you can cat it onto itself using
increasing sized chunks until it is big enough to cat on to /dev/fb0.
