imagine using your FR as a music-player, carrying in your pocket
with every move you make, you touch the screen of your FR
in current state your FR burns a lot of energy for driving display/ 
backlight you don't see because it's in your pocket
with disabling the touch (stop emitting any kind of events) you allow  
the FR (X11) to turn off display/backlight and save energy
