Readability is "a" goal, but functionality is a bigger one.
Let's not lose sight that the patch fixes something that was broken for
a few weeks :-) I don't mind if it has some unnecessary inversion pairs
floating around, they'll get cleaned over time and in the meanwhile
we're working fine and we weren't last week.
