Why not use request_mem_region/ioremap in keyboard driver?

Hi All,

       Why did line 42 in kernel/drivers/input/keyboard/neo1973kbd.c not use
request_mem_region/ioremap before gpio_get_value? I thought anything which
reads registers should use request_mem_region/ioremap before getting the
register's value. Can anyone explain why? Thanks a lot!
