There is now a manual unbricking procedure 
(http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo1973_Debug_Board_v2/Unbricking). As a 
member of the GTA01-owners community, I think that it would be 
acceptable to drop GTA01 support from the devirginator (but not from 
u-boot or the kernel) if it would speed up the GTA02 development process.
