Remaining Root Space

Just noticed this bug for ipkg in openembedded:

Would be a nice one to fix in opkg. The only issue I see is that the
unpacked size of a package is probably pretty impossible to calculate,
especially on a compressed file system.

Does anyone have any thoughts here, besides issuing a warning if only
(for example) 5% of the root filesystem is free.
