neocon shock frozen

i tried to modify u-boot's menu so it boots sd cards with ext2+ext2.
therefor i fetched neocn and build it, fired it up and connected to the fr.
after a few tests and at least one timeout necon froze -- and if i say
froze, i really mean it!
i can't by no means kill it, /dev/ttyACM0 does not disappear and
modprobe -r cdc-acm
FATAL: Module cdc_acm is in use.
seems the only way to do something is to reboot -- simply because one app
freezes.

i can't really understand why neocon does not timeout and why connecting
the fr doesn not create another ttyACM device if ttyACM0 is already there
and in use.
and btw: i don't understand why u-boot still does not have a default entry
to boot from ext2 (ext2+ext2 if a kernel partition seems really necessary).

so, is there a way to make neocon fail more (rather: at all) graciously
and/ore to release ttyACM0 other than rebooting?
