it's not an easy thing to check. I had a2play printing a message out
if it found an mp3 decoder. The latest bluetooth gstreamer probably
has some debug info that shows it.

it has to be through gstreamer since it can deal with streams that
have different encoding types (mp3, raw, etc) and it can realize when
a target device supports a stream without decoding first.
