With pymixer it's a little easier as it only allows you to change the input 
and output volumes that are involed in the current scenario.

Before running the alsactl run

opkg install openmoko-alsa-scenarios

This will rule out problems with the alsastate file. If this doesn't fix it then 
a faulty speaker is a possibility.
