[all distros] auto-login to hot spots that use web-based login

not really an openmoko question directly, but still relevant

can anyone explain if there is a way to connect to a wifi point that
uses a web-based username and password, without using my browser?

ideally a bash script or something i can run with one-click? i want to
get my e-mail at university without firing up minimo and entering the
password
