can't flash kernel

my commandline was:

dfu-util -a kernel -R -D //path/to/uImage/

dfu-util -l shows:

Found Runtime: [0x1d50:0x5119] devnum=5, cfg=0, intf=2, alt=0, name="USB 
Device Firmware Upgrade"

In reply to Mr. Schaller:

No, I'm not using 64bit Ubuntu. But after the latest kernel change I 
noticed that the network manager recognizes the device as usbX the first 
time I plug it. If I replug it, it's ethX.
